The University of South Carolina College of Arts and Sciences provided a small grant to aid in the development of an ocean acidification lab in my Fall 2021 course Biology of Marine Organisms (MSCI 311). This course development grant is part of the college wide Climate Themed Semester ("Themester"). This new lab will explore the impacts of human emitted carbon dioxide on ocean chemistry. Students will test the effects of different pH seawater solutions on 2 different species of clam shells. This type of hands-on experiment is valuable for demonstrating anthropogenic changes in the marine environment to UofSC's undergraduate students majoring in marine sciences! |
