Today we published the first JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) Committee column in Oceanography. This column introduces the committee, our goals, and provides links to websites, social media accounts, etc. so TOS members can follow our progress. This inaugural column represents new efforts to educate and mobilize the oceanography community to create a welcoming environment for people of all identities. We will continued to publish columns in each quarterly Oceanography issue! Our next column will review JEDI terminology to update readers on the constantly changing lexicon, acronyms and best use of language to describe diverse groups of people and current efforts to open up space for them in our communities. As always, keep in touch with the committee via: Twitter: @TOSOceanography Facebook: @OceanographySociety Instagram: @tosoceanography Website: https://tos.org/diversity Email: [email protected] |
