I received two questions from the Ask-A-Scientist video program about the lesson plan I created for Science Journal For Kids. My recorded answers are available on YouTube, and focus on the topics "How can we help whales?" and "What do whales eat?". Thanks so much to Connor Chu for the great questions! This has been another fun opportunity to reach out to K-12 students and make current scientific research accessible to the next generation. I had the privilege to spend a week in Quito and the Galapagos with a group of faculty from the SEOE and biology departments, as well as representatives from the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sports Management and the Arnold School of Public Health at UofSC. We are working to strengthen a partnership between UofSC, the Universidad San Francisco de Quito, and the Galapagos Science Center. We had an excellent trip, filled with opportunities to meet and exchange ideas with administrators, faculty and researchers in Ecuador. We toured the campuses in Quito and on San Cristobal, and had the chance to see the unique ecosystems and wildlife on the island. I'm looking forward to future collaborations with our new friends at USFQ and in the Galapagos! |
